We support a number of targeting options. Each advertising campaign may have an unlimited number of ad units that may be targeted by any combination of the following:
Geo targeting
Geo targeting is based on a user IP address and will be represented as user's Country, Region and Metro Code (for US).
This allows advertisers to restrict ad visibility to a certain Country / Country + Region / Country + Region + Metro Code (as well as set no restrictions).
Ingredients
Each ad unit or campaign may target as many ingredients as the advertiser would like, subject to publisher page inventory availability. Each added ingredient is joined using one of boolean operators: AND, OR — i.e., Show ad if (ingredient is beef or ingredient is pork) and (ingredient is carrot or ingredient is cucumber)
Recipe Title
Advertisers may choose to target their ads based on recipe titles. This allows advertisers to use keywords that may not be available in other targeting categories. For example, an advertiser may choose to target all recipes with “Christmas”, “Instant Pot”, “Sugar Free”, or any combination of keywords in the title.
Cuisines
Advertisers may want to show their ads on pages with recipes that are bucketed into specific cuisines, like Italian food or Mexican food or any combination of cuisine types. All available targeting cuisines can be reviewed here.
Meal Types
Ad units may also be targeted on recipes who fit into specific meal type categories like breakfast, desserts, or cocktails. All available meal types can be reviewed here.
Techniques
Ads targeted by cooking techniques used in recipes are also an option. For example, ads may be served on all recipes that require grilling or baking. All available technique types can be reviewed here.
