This article is about managing the settings in our account, including preferences and notification. It is not about managing your Profile. To find out more about managing your Whisk Profile, please see this article.
To find your settings, please select your Profile icon in the upper right corner and select Settings
The Settings dialog box will open:
From you Account, you can change your display name, account email address, set up a password and more.
Name: Set up your public name, how you will appear across the app, for example, in Communities, Reviews, etc.
Email: This is the email account currently associated with your account. If the account is created with a phone number you’ll see Phone instead of Email.
Password: You don't need to set a password, but if you want to this is the place. For more information about logging into Whisk, see Logging Into Your Whisk Account FAQ.
Region: Identify your country of origin. This impacts experiences like Shopping List and the stores that are available to you. If you don’t see your region in the list select Other.
Zip code: Add or update your zip code, if applicable. This also impacts experiences like Shopping List and the stores that are available to you.
Language: Change the language of the app. The choices here are the only ones currently available.
Gender: Update your gender. You can also choose not to identify.
Log out: If needed, this is where you can log out of your account.
Delete Account: If you wish to delete your account and all of your data, click on this and follow the instructions. For more information on deleting your account, please see this article
Updating your preferences can create a more personalized experience in Whisk including recipe recommendations and shopping.
Diet: Select your primary diet from the choices. At this time you can only choose one diet.
Avoidances: Do you have any food allergies? Select as many food avoidances as you want from the list provided.
Dislikes: Are there ingredients you just don't like? Select as many food items you dislike from the list provided.
Nutrition: Do you have any nutrition requirements like Low Sodium? Select those from the list provided.
Household: Do you plan and shop for multiple people? Identify the number of people in your household.
Preferred Store: Whisk has integrations with a number of grocers around the world for eCommerce grocery shopping. If you have a preference with one of the stores currently integrated and available in your region, you can select that here. This will show up as the default eCommerce store.
Cooking Experience: Want to identify you cooking level? You can select that here from Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.
Favorite Cuisines: Whisk has provided a list of standard cuisines for you to select. Select as many as you want.
Which Preferences are currently used for personalization?
Diet and Avoidances filter recipes from your personalized recipe recommendations that do not match the criteria you selected here.
At this time, we do not use Cooking Experience, Dislikes, Favorite Cuisines for personalization but this is something we'll be launching.
Where do you currently get personalized recommendations based on these preferences?
- Email recommendations if you’re subscribed in our emails
- Search and Explore tab
- At the bottom of the Home Feed once you reach the end of the activities listed
Please note that Preferences currently do not impact:
- Home Feed
- Communities that are shown on the Home Feed
- Community that are shown in the Recommended Communities section on the Home Feed (web app only)
- Search results
If you want to turn off push notifications or unsubscribe from emails you get from Whisk, select Notifications from Settings:
You can turn off push notifications as well as unsubscribe to our emails (Recipe Recommendations, product and promotional updates).
